California State Highway 108 traverses the Sierra Nevada at an elevation of 9,628 feet and is subject to winter closure at Highway 108 Sno-Park. Cross-country skiers and snowmobilers looking for a winter adventure will begin their search from Highway 108 Sno-Park. The area beyond Kennedy Meadows and up to Sonora Pass is NOT groomed. There are steep climbing slopes and narrow chutes in the area. Snowmobilers will find several avalanche chutes near Chipmunk Flat and portions beyond can be impassable to experienced snowmobilers with equipped snowmobiles. Ensure safety gear is carried at all times. For avalanche advisory information please visit the Sierra Avalanche Center website. Please respect the Wilderness Areas on each side of Highway 108. Ride ythe sled on designated routes and in legal areas.

California State Parks Sno-Park permits are required when parking in the Highway 108 Sno-Park parking lot. Permits may be purchased for $5 a day, or $25 for a season pass. Permits can be purchased at the Cold Springs Market, 29822 Hwy 108 or online at the California State Parks website.
