Summary


The Black Dragon Trail #5035 (Arapeen Route #62) is 1.8 miles long and provides a connection between the Ferron Canyon Picnic Area adjacent to Forest Road #50022 and Forest Road #50170 south of Joes Valley.  The trail passes through a rocky sandstone canyon vegetated with pinyon-juniper.  It climbs 322 feet from 6,479 feet in elevation to 6,801 feet. Difficulty Level:  More Difficult Elevation Change: South End (Ferron Campground):  6,479 feet North End (Road #50170):             6,801 feet

Open to:  Hiking, Mountain Biking, Horseback Riding, Off Highway Vehicles (OHV) less than or equal to 50 inches wide. This trail is closed to motorized use each winter to protect wildlife on winter range.
