The trail passes through a rocky sandstone canyon vegetated with pinyon-juniper. It climbs 322 feet from 6,479 feet in elevation to 6,801 feet. From Ferron, turn west onto 100 South/Canyon Rd and travel approximately 9.2 miles. Turn right into the Ferron Canyon Picnic area and continue to Black Dragon Trail #5035.
