Part of the Tri-Forest Snowmobile trails system, Doorknob offers access to over 250 miles of snowmobile trails on the Modoc, Shasta Trinity and Klamath National Forests. In the summer the area is a popular picnic and day hiking spot. Door Knob has a warming shelter open to all snow enthusiasts. Winter
In winter, the access is through the Lava Beds National Monument. From Tulelake travel west on East-West Road approximately 4 miles to Hill Road. Turn left (south) on Hill Road which is also the Modoc Volcanic Scenic Byway. This road takes you into the Lava Beds National Monument. Just before the Visitor Center, turn right (south) on County Road 49. Continue 4 miles to the snow park on the right.
