This 8.5 mile long trail mainly consists of a mixture of clay and loamy soil and winds through a scenic ponderosa pine forest. The trail is rated as mostly easy but has scenic views of grassy meadows and surrounding mountains. Dispersed camping is permitted but Wildcat Campground is just a few miles away. The northern main access road (McKay Creek Road) is suitable for large trailers and RVs.
